Got the new bands/hinge on this morning. I replaced the gasket the other day (in the dark….can you tell? 🙂 ) Is an air gap under the egg required? I am thinking about putting a heat resistant paver under the egg because it is a smidge uneven. The table isn’t the highest quality but it will do until I finally build an outdoor kitchen that can handle this egg and my XL. The table extends and that’s where my Ooni will go when in use. Can’t wait to do kabob on this thing! I have a MM that is great for kabobs but limited in size, obvi.)

I don’t think the ceramic bottom should be touching. Maybe bge has those ceramic feet like with kamado joe?
I snagged a medium for 60 bucks off marketplace two summers ago, absolutely love it. Sometimes i wish I had more space but i can’t complain!
Still managed to pump out food for 8-10 people.
The air gap is absolutely necessary. It can crack the base if left on a paver. Not that it will but in theory it can. The nest for the BGE is relatively inexpensive.
Yes, you need an air gap for sure. A paver, some bricks, or they even have little green ceramic feet you can buy. Gasket should be perfectly functional if a bit wonky, but do your self a favor when it comes time to replace this one and get yourself a Rutland gasket from Ron Pat. That should be all the info you need to google his contact info. He sells them at cost plus shipping as a service to the community.
Brother that looks way too close to the house/window/siding. It’s all just plastic and melts.
Ask me how I know this.
