Ok the NY strip is on sale so doesn’t count.
But look at that ribeye at the back – $40/lb vs $64 per 12oz (i.e. $85/lb) from the SRF website. What am I missing?

Because they buy in bulk, cut their own steaks and don’t have to worry about individual packaging and shipping.
My local heb carries SRF. It’s amazing. That being said, heb beef prices are insanely low in the general sense as well
Bigger reach online.
Wtf
Eataly will have holiday sales with 50-60% off of various cuts. The coming Good Friday sale theyll have dry aged on sale
Economies of scale.
Shipping to an individual is fucking pain in the ass vs. sending pallet on a refrigerated truck.
I wouldn’t be surprised if the shipping actually costs more than the meat itself for SNF.
Material packaging and freight cost to the customer. Rates will always be higher per LB delivering small quantities.
Online sales will almost always go through a third party processor. Fixed weight branded single packaged steaks will always cost more than an in house butcher at grocery cutting from a loin portion.
Waygu “fad” has not hit me at all, I tried it as ground and made burgers, meh. I’ll stick either way ribeyes
It’s due to the volume they buy. That savings gets passed on
We carry SRF at my store, there’s a grade below black called silver that is cheaper. Looks like they don’t have that option available online but these might be silver.
Brother it’s a crime to not buy that tri tip
I’m honestly not sure how this sells. Worried it gets tossed
Wholesale cost versus direct cost.
Today reddit learned about bulk pricing
There is a another level of overhead that SRF online has to deal with that doesn’t come with selling in bulk to grocery stores.
Their direct to consumer online operation has to cut, package, box up, ship, maintain a website, handle customer service, pay for facilities and employees to handle everything, etc…
