A head-on collision outside a Napa winery left two people dead and two others seriously injured, authorities said Saturday afternoon.
Just before noon, California Highway Patrol responded to a crash near 5766 Silverado Trail, the address of Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars. The people injured were airlifted to Santa Rosa Memorial Hospital, CHP logs show.
Authorities suspect drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, according to CHP spokesperson Luis Toris. One person was arrested Saturday, he said, but no other information was immediately available about the suspect or the others involved in the crash.
Silverado Trail was still closed in both directions by 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Toris said. CHP logs show that the two-lane road, which winds through vineyards around Napa, was beginning to reopen around 6 p.m.
It was unclear if anyone involved in the crash had visited Stag’s Leap prior to the crash. The winery did not immediately respond to a request for comment Saturday evening.
