Los Peperetes Ventresca in Jersey butter. This might be the best tin of tuna I've ever had. And the most expensive by far. This tin was around £23 from the Tinned Fish Market.
Just the most indulgent tuna experience you could have. The tuna itself is silky and buttery (even before considering the butter it's sitting in!). Relatively uniform slices laid out in layers with plenty of rich and decadent butter. If it sounds simple, it's because it is. The tuna's flavour is allowed to come through and it's just fantastic. It's a much lighter tuna flavour than ones I've had before, and the fact that it's good quality Ventresca surely adds to that.
Coat that with a rich layer of melted butter and you've got yourself something so indulgent you kinda feel guilty for having lol
I dropped the tin in a bowl of hot water for a few minutes to melt the butter before opening it. And I had it with some toasted sourdough slices that did a good job at mopping up the leftover butter. I'm sure there are several creative recipes I could've made with this, but I thought it best to keep it simple to be able to experience this tin. Do I want to have it again? Definitely. Would I buy it again? I think so, but it's so rich that I can't see myself having this too often. Plus, it's a £23 tin of tuna lol. It's worth it for the experience and the occasional delicacy for sure imo!

You did this perfectly. I love it with just soke toasted sourdough. So good!
I have this tin and I’m going to enjoy exactly the way you did.
Lovely! M&S do their own brand ventresca in olive oil for £4.50 and it’s beautiful.
