After literally months and months of being weirdly obsessed with finding a new grinder, I decided on the Lagom Casa – thanks to Sigma Coffee for the crazy fast shipping.
First impressions are remarkably positive. Espresso is multifaceted and nuanced and pour over is the same. Put around 1kg of ALDI’s finest “Italian espresso” through it to season it and it seems to have already hit its stride.
I think the forum talk about lack of body and the burrs being unsuited to dark roasts are wildly overstated and I think are in actuality, broadly wrong. This thing has handled light roasted geishas and some medium dark espresso blends with equal skill.
The motor does sound a little bit like a pencil sharpener and coming from my old Ascaso ISteel that feels a bit strange, but I’ll trade feeling less macho for a tidy and ultra capable grinder any day.

I LOVE the form factor of this. Getting rid of a DF83V because its too big for my space and am addign this to my future wish list. ENJOY

I guess you are welcome to r/espressocirclejerk .
Had mine about a week yet. Been loving results from it so far. Got fed up with maintaining a DF54 and it’s quirks, this is so much nicer to work with.
Just looked up the price 👀
I have been eyeing this grinder for a while. How’s your workflow for transferring the grinds to your portafilter? I have a Bambino plus, and I’m worried it will be cumbersome if the catch cup doesn’t fit the size of the basket.
Also, how’s the build quality? I have seen some videos that talk about some play in the joints
I should have gotten this instead of the Varia VS6 tbh
