TSA food pantry at Burlington airport stops accepting donations

BURLINGTON, Vt. (WCAX) – The food pantry for TSA employees at the Burlington International Airport is no longer accepting donations as federal pay resumes Tuesday.

Airport officials said they received thousands of dollars in donations, gift cards and meals, along with more than 500 pounds of food to help TSA employees during the DHS shutdown.

The airport posted on social media a thank you to everyone who stepped up to help.

They said the kindness of all the donors made a real difference to the workers who keep the airport safe and secure.

President Donald Trump on Friday signed a promised executive action to pay Transportation Security Administration employees after a bid to end the shutdown of the Department of Homeland Security fell apart in Congress.

Trump signed the action with an eye toward easing long security lines at many of the nation’s top airports.
