HONOLULU (HawaiiNewsNow) – A Honolulu restaurant is celebrating pizza’s deep roots in both Italy and Brazil.

“At San Paolo, we bring these two worlds together, respecting Italian tradition while embracing the diversity and innovation that emerged in Brazil,” said owner Andre Alves De Moraes.

Located on Ala Moana Blvd. in Waikiki, San Paolo serves authentic pizza, fusion wines, and live music daily from 5–10 p.m. The curated menu also features fresh pastas, appetizers, salads, and signature dessert pizzas, all made with imported ingredients from Italy and Brazil.

Pizzas come in traditional Italian flavors as well as creative options like beef mignon, honey and brie, calabresa with catupiry (Brazilian smoked pork sausage and a creamy Brazilian cheese), and a Portuguese pizza with ham, eggs and olives. Diners can sample different pizza flavors through an all-you-can-eat option.

Alves De Moraes and Chef Danny De joined Sunrise to talk about additions to their menu and a new brunch experience on Saturdays and Sundays from 8 a.m.–1 p.m. featuring breakfast staples like pancakes and omelettes, and dishes with a Brazilian twist such as a waffle made from pão de queijo — Brazil’s beloved cheese bread — and a brisket eggs benedict. Alves De Moraes said the brunch menu is designed to feel distinct, elevated and memorable, and hopes to expand to weekday brunch soon.

Reservations are available online, and guests can also take advantage of a kamaaina discount, validated parking, and other on-site perks.
