A new Italian restaurant is now open in one of North Vancouver’s busiest waterfront corridors, and it comes with a serious pedigree behind it.

Provisions Italiana officially launched this week inside the boutique Seaside Hotel in the Shipyards District.

The restaurant is the latest from Executive Table Group, the team behind some of Vancouver’s most recognized spots, including Hydra Estiatorio, Alouette Bistro, AJ Brooklyn Pizza Tsawwassen and Parker Rooftop.

The concept is built around rustic, Italian countryside cooking with an emphasis on simplicity and seasonality.

The standout on the menu is the Roman-style pizza, made in the al taglio tradition.

For those unfamiliar, that means a light, airy house-made dough baked in large rectangular trays and cut into square slices, resulting in a crisp, caramelized crust with a slightly chewy crumb.

Options range from a classic Margherita to a Funghi with truffle, Fontina, thyme, and honey, and a Fennel Salami with mozzarella and olive.

Beyond pizza, the dinner menu covers vegetable-forward small plates, handmade pastas like an Orecchiette with beef cheek Bolognese and whipped ricotta, and larger sharing platters including a whole Roasted Seabass and a 20oz Ribeye.

The kitchen is led by Executive Chef Morgan MacDonald, who spent the past decade cooking across Vancouver Island at spots like The Beach House and Med Grill in Victoria and Ocean7 Restaurant in Courtenay.

The cocktail list leans into the Italian theme with drinks like the Garden Party, a clarified rum punch with beet shrub foam, and the Aperitivo Alpino with Bombay Sapphire gin and amaro chiaro.

Happy hour runs twice daily from 3 to 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. to close, with $2 oysters on the half shell, $7 glasses of house wine and sleeves of craft beer, and $9 feature cocktails.

Weekend brunch is available from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays, featuring four signature Bennies starting at $15, a Frittata for $26, and a show-stopping Brunch Tower with pastries, a benedict sampler, and panzanella salad.

Provisions Italiana now joins other recently opened Metro Vancouver food spots like Nandos’ Kerrisdale, Plain Jane, and Stackhouse Sandwich Gastown.
