What do you think? Are Costco ribeye cap steaks worth it or overrated?
Reverse seared using Traeger set at 250 then seared on Blackstone. Personally, I think these ribeye caps taste incredible. But I am sad when I look at all the ribeyes in Costco that are missing their caps… Also the price is not ideal.

They are so good I look for them constantly at my Costco. Would buy every time if they had them.
wigglin_harry
I dont like them simply for the fact that they remove the caps from perfectly good ribeyes
horseradish_is_gross
Personally, id give em a couple more minutes.

They taste great. Love them. Great cook on these.

A good vet could resuscitate that.

Can’t say I’ve ever seen them at my Costco, wish i did

What is that sauce on them. Looks amazing

I personally prefer ribeyes at the medium rare range, and not nearer to blue/lower end of rare. But they came out really nice.
Uhhhhdel
I like to sous vide them and get the fat fully rendered before throwing them on the grill. Or alternatively if I don’t want to sous vide them, I untie them, get them flat and then grill them to about medium rare plus.
I like them but they’re so rich that I actually steer clear of them

I think you cooked it perfectly

The cap is the best part of the beast to me but its almost too much of a great thing so I haven’t bought one. My costco stopped making them.

What did you throw on them on your flattop, Garlic butter?

Looks delicious. First shot looked like odd burger patties at first glance

A costco prime ribeye cap is basically the pinnacle of steak for me. The most perfect cut there is fatty juicy pinwheels crust great if you smoke. You can smoke these to a higher finishing temp for insane crust and it won’t be too dry.

You make it look worth it! How do they taste?

That looks delicious asf.
Idk about the specifics of whether they’re worth it from Costco or not, but they look decent sized, and more importantly, you’ve cooked them incredibly.
Thicker the steak is, the better in my opinion.

Poor asparagus

Haven’t seen this at Costco since pre pandemic. That would be an automatic buy for me

I think they are freaking amazing!

Worth it if you like it. Overrated if you think it’s not good enough for the cost.

Best steaks in the game $ for $

I love to untie them and grill separately like small steaks. More seasoning surface and I can cook to different finishing temperatures.
HawnStyle
Heard they came back in my area, just haven’t seen them yet. Must be limited quantity and gets snatched up quickly.

Whats the price at Costco for a Ribeye?
I haven’t bought a steak from the grocery store in a long time.

Why smother it? The spinalis has plenty of flavor without.
Doongbuggy
costco is overpriced in general rn for beef
Realistic-Fact-2584
I swear I never find them at the Costco that I go to
Lucky-Brilliant9501
The fact that most cities with Costco’s don’t have them, make that worth it alone
Lucky-Brilliant9501
If u smile after every bite, it’s worth the price tag
BasilEffective1731
I haven’t seen them at my Costco, but the spinalis is the best steak ever and I’d pay too much for it.
