For the third straight year, teachers, administrators and other staff for Mesa County Valley School District 51 gathered at the Food Bank of the Rockies for a volunteer day.
Organized and hosted by the D51 Foundation, the event is part of the Foundation’s JOY Celebration series. This year’s event was sponsored by Monument Health. It also highlighted the D51 Foundation focus and commitment to wellness by encouraging connection, service, and community among staff.
Through initiatives like Student and Staff Wellness Grants, Bloom Where You Are Planted Grants, which help students participate in extracurricular activities, and JOY events, the Foundation works to strengthen the D51 community in impactful ways.
“We’re deeply grateful for D51 Foundation’s continued partnership and commitment to nourishing our community, especially at a time when more people are turning to our network for food assistance,” said Amber Henning, Food Bank of the Rockies Director of Development and Community Relations-Western Slope. “Their ongoing support helps further some of our most critical programs, like our mobile pantries, allowing us to reach more neighbors facing hunger and ensuring families across the Western Slope have access to the food they need to thrive.”
Connecting staff with community events like the one on Thursday, helps strengthen the connection between D51 and the community, D51 Foundation Executive Director Angela Christensen aid.
“Seeing our D51 staff members come together to volunteer at Food Bank of the Rockies is a powerful reminder of the many ways they make a positive impact across Mesa County. Their dedication extends far beyond the classroom, strengthening our community through service and care. We are sincerely grateful for all they do,” Christensen said.
