Was supposed to gift this but I left in a little too long. Suggestions? The bottom isn’t too bad

It looks fine to me?

Me. You gift it to me. That’s a perfect loaf.
Fearless_Permit_8209
I only throw it if it’s inedibly burned. Eat the good part. My failed still edible breads usually become Bread pudding .

Slice it sideways across the middle, remove the inside and use it as a bowl for stew.

Nothing about that bread looks bad to me.
I’ll take it if you don’t want it.

Suggestion for what exactly? That is a perfect loaf!

That is baked bien cuit. You’re good

Perfect color – even if it would be 100% all-purpose flour

I understand your view but if I’d be gifted somethibg in general I’d already be grateful. If I’d get gifted THIS bread, I’d always be there if you needed help. Be kind to yourself OP, we judge ourselves too harsh at times, this looks amazing!

I think this looks great!

I know how you feel, let’s put aside the joking comments of “it’s perfect!”, “gift it to me!”, because you’re used to your bread coming out better and you don’t want others to think less of your bread.
I understand where you’re coming from.
Few questions: Who is it for? Have you gifted them bread before? Are they used to home made bread? How much do you care if they get a bit under what you think is your normal loaf?
Lots of people eat store-bought bread and anything home made is an insane improvement.
A lot of times I’m not satisfied with my bread and I say I can do better and yet people love it and keep giving me compliments, whether it be sourdough bread, challah or others.
Think about the answers and I don’t think you can really go wrong with giving it away, if you want, just let them know you left it in a bit too long, that’s all, don’t overthink it.

It is perfect and the crust will soften.

That’s a gorgeous loaf, you should definitely feel good gifting that!

Where is the loaf that was in too long? Unless this is going to someone with poor teeth, it’s perfect.

Bien Cuit!

Looks delicious and crusty to me!!!
zekromNLR
Give it to me, I love a deeply browned, crunchy crust on bread and I think that looks just about perfect!
splurgingspleen
It is a thing of beauty and makes a great gift

You shouldn’t gift it. I’ll take it off your hands and get rid of it. Might take me a day or two, but I’ll do it for free.

Too long? It looks so perfect though!! Color is flavorrr

I would be so happy if you showed up with this! It looks great! So it’s a little more crispy as you said than normal, but what’s wrong with crispy? I like it crispy. Just gift it, nothing is wrong with it.
DrPorkchopES
It looks perfect to me, that’s the doneness I bake all my sourdough to
onetwobucklemyshoooo
This is perfect. I’ve seen people prefer it even darker than this.

Have you ever tried it? A lot of people actually like their bread this color because the deep brown introduces some new and complex flavors. I know it’s not what you intended but the loaf does look like what a lot of people try to make.
If you look up any of Ken Forkish’s or Tartiness stuff (what a lot of people learn from) they actually recommended baking the bread to this color. Not that they have the final word on what good bread is, and you should make it the way you like it, but there are different perspectives on what that color means.
No_Lime_1378
This is the finish color you should be going for, this bread is perfect. Gift away.

If the bottom flour is scorched, you can brush it off with a pastry brush. It’s a little dark golden but not burnt. I would gift. But I also don’t really care what people think.

Lol all my bakes look like this. This is what we aimed for at the bakery I used to work for. This should be the standard

Just took some King Arthur video classes and they let their loaves brown WAY more than I usually do. Looks fine.
Itsnotme74
You made someone a crusty loaf of bread, I’m struggling to see the problem.
Straight-Candle-4889
honestly, it’s got that “rustic charm” vibe now… just tell them it’s artisanal, like a happy accident or something 😂
Maverick21FM
That’s beautiful, nothing wrong with it.

If this is bad then I don’t want to be good. Beautiful loaf 👏

What a beautiful and rustic baby, crafted with love and fine ingredients. If someone gifted this to me I genuinely think I would shed a happy tear and then hug my friend for the thoughtful deed.

“My lobster too buttery, my steak too juicy”. That’s a perfect bake. Don’t be afraid of some colour.
Jeffers315
I make all mine like this on purpose. It’s not overdone at all.
