MILFORD — Ice cream will be scooped once again at 499 New Haven Ave. when Toasty Scoops opens in the former Milford home of Sundae House.

Toasty Scoops, which will open next month, will be serving up Bassetts Ice Cream, a brand out of Philadelphia that has been around since 1861.

Prior to Toasty Scoops moving in, Cookie39 operated a mobile trailer outside of the building in 2025. Cookie39, named after its original location at 39 Broadway in New Haven, was an independently owned, from-scratch bakery that offered up freshly baked cookies daily. Cookie39’s mobile truck and New Haven are listed as permanently closed.

A flier on the window of the New Haven establishment detailing the closure was posted on Reddit earlier this year.

“After much reflection, I have made the difficult decision to close Cookie39. This chapter has been incredibly meaningful, and I am deeply grateful to everyone who supported us—from loyal customers to neighbors who simply stopped in to say hello. Your enthusiasm for our cookies made every day special,” reads the flier, written by owner Dave Powell.
