This was a normal lunch for us. How does this compare to what you had in school?

Korean American here. I took lunch most of the time because school lunch was straight ass. I’m in my 30s so maybe things changed?
Mains were things like pasta boiled into goo with tomato sauce reminiscent of ketchup and a few crumbles of ground meat. A veg side of things like corn, boiled until grey. Carb side of a piece of plain white bread. Box of cheap shelf stable milk. Optional dessert if mostly stabilizers, butter fat solids, and food coloring. Absolutely abominable.

As an American, I remember how disgusting public school lunches were. Many people just throwing in the trash or on the walls/floors. I can’t imagine these students feeling anything other than joy/satisfaction at the effort placed in preparing such a meal!

My school doesn’t have any lunches or a canteen so this makes me feel really jealous lol. It looks so good! What type of soup is it? And do you have to pay for school lunches in Korea?
