Hello all. I’m seeking advice to introduce more fish in my diet. I’ve attached photos from my three meals yesterday. Breakfast was oatmeal with berries; lunch was salad with various veggies and homemade salad dressing; dinner was grilled tilapia, quinoa, and mixed veggies. I might have fish for dinner once every couple weeks and it’s usually tilapia or salmon on the stovetop. I’ll sometimes split a can of sardines or tuna with hubby to accompany our midday salad. I like those choices but what else can I do? I eat a lot of chicken and beans, by the way. Thanks!

Buy frozen filets that are vacuum sealed in individual portions. I freeze my chicken as well in individual portions, so when I go to get chicken out to defrost now I remember to do fish instead about half the time. Many sides and recipes that go with chicken also work with fish fillets, so it doesn’t require a whole new set of meals

In many parts of Spain fish stews are quite common! If you google “Spanish fish stews” you can find many recipes, that you can also adapt to your tastes and needs.

  4. Don’t rule out fish for breakfast – salmon & eggs; avocado toast with salmon, kippers, sardines, smoked trout, etc; eggs with kippers in the side; bowl with whole grains, veggies & fish; etc

For me, a whole can of sardines or tuna is a serving, rather than half a can. They’re usually 3 to 5 ounces. Canned seafood is most of the seafood I eat, along with occasional sushi or other fish/seafood prepared in a restaurant or supermarket.

Yesterday I opened a can of sardines in olive oil and dumped it on top of a big green salad. Added some vinegar and a little pepper for a fast lunch.

Another thing to do with canned seafood is to add it to pasta sauce. Canned fish is really good in a puttanesca type sauce with tomatoes, olives, and capers. Anchovies are traditional but any kind of fish works. Or you could do a quick uncooked pasta sauce with chopped canned or fresh tomatoes, canned fish, fresh lemon, and olive oil. Fresh basil or parsley if you have it. This is good cold right out of the fridge the next day, too.

Canned kipper snacks or sardines are a great thing to take hiking or on a picnic.

Acquire fish. Cook fish. Eat fish.  Success.

I can fully relate to this. I love fish but cooking it requires a more delicate hand and sometimes I do not have the time to do it right. I’ve really gotten into making meals with smoked salmon (quinoa bowls are my go-to). Easy way for me to add more fish to my diet without sweating how to cook it. I’ve also started doing meals with shrimp once a week as it’s impossible to mess up.

Prawns (shrimp) are also easy to incorporate into meals. I keep a bag of frozen prawns in my freezer.

Usually have 6 on a slice of sourdough with some greek yoghurt and feta or avocado. Defrost in <5 mins in cold water, simple pinch salt, pepper to taste (i like adding smoked paprika too) and evoo and cook in a pan flipping after about 2-3 minutes.

Throw into salads, soups, even scrambled egg.
