Burger Buns – ZERO Carbs – Easy to make, delicious as a burger, or toasted with a slice of cheese. Healthy option without sacrificing taste.
Ingredients:
Whites from 6 large eggs,
Tsp lemon juice,
Pinch of salt,
Scoop (100ml) albumen,
Optional: add some dry spices for extra flavour.
(Dry garlic or onion powder, Italian herbs, rosemarie for example for very well).
Instructions:
Combine the egg whites, lemon juice and salt. Mix well until very stiff, 8 – 10 minutes. Add the albumen and optional spice(s). Mix on low speed till fully incorporated. Use forms with desired bun size to hold the mixture while baking. I use 2 x 110mm and 2 x 90mm forms in this video. They are 45mm in height. Completely fill each form with egg mixture, it will rise during baking, but will reduce back when cooling. The mixture from 6 eggs will easily fill 5 x (110 x 45)mm forms.
Baking recommendation:
Preheat oven to 160℃.
Bake for approximately 20 minutes, (Crust will feel crispy to the touch).
Remove immediately when done.
Let it cool completely before removing from forms.
Preparation time, 15 minutes. Baking time 20 minutes.
