So I am intrigued by this list of [Stuffed Baked Potatoes](https://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/articles/50-stuffed-potatoes) ideas; I’d happily eat about 90% of the recipes listed. But, because reasons, baked potatoes cause more problems than they solve for me (YMMV, obviously).

Mashed potatoes are another story. I was thinking, could I make mashed potato muffin cups? Make little mashed potato wells in a muffin tin, fill the well with the stuffing ideas, cook (if necessary), freeze. Thaw and/or nuke when ready to eat.

Theoretically, I imagine them as frozen baby mashed potato bowls.

Questions:

1. Is that crazy?
2. If it’s not crazy, has it been done before? Available recipes? I’ve seen “mashed potato muffin” recipes online, but it’s not quite what I’m describing. several add eggs to the potatoes; is that necessary for structural integrity, or is it a flavor thing?
3. Do I cook them before freezing? The potatoes, and the fillings would already be cooked before assembly, so the only reason to cook that I can think of is to finish off any add-ins, like eggs or cheese.
