As you can probably easily guess, I’m very new to meal prepping. I’ve been wanting to get more into it for ages now, but what keeps me is basically the thing in the title. I have prepped frozen meals (mostly soups) before, yes and I accidentally also once made so much lentil stew that I had to eat it for 5 days… but at that time, it seems the stew was also a bit on the limit of edibility already.

Whenever I see people prep for a week, just putting it in the fridge, I always wonder… why doesn’t this get spoiled?

I have made rice before for when my dog had stomach issues and after a week I could only throw it away basically.

Now I wanted to prep my favourite fresh meal of all time, the classic “Chicken Breast with Rice and Broccoli” and I have even found a goof recipe (not that one needed one) to ensure me it is good for meal prepping ( https://gimmedelicious.com/20-minute-meal-prep-chicken-rice-and-broccoli/ ).

But for how long can I keep this in containers in the fridge? At what temperature? Is there any secret to the “fridge life” of such things?

I hope my question isn’t too repetitive on this sub, but this really bothers me and I’d appreciate your help.
