I’ve never been interested in trying IF as a lifestyle, because I’m someone who generally wakes up hungry and my three big WFPB meals a day work just fine for me. I don’t have any immediate concerns I’d like to address like weight loss or energy levels.
But I’m intruiged by these discussions on calorie restriciton and longevity – about how fasted states trigger autophagy and regenration etc.
So from what I understand the ProLon diet is supposed to help you reap the long-term benefits of fasting without the ‘pain’ of fasting, so I’m considering giving it a go. Basically, for a 5-day period once every three months or so, you restrict your diet to 800 calories to trigger a fasted state. Before and after you eat normally.
Has anyone tried anything like this?
FWIW I wouldn’t buy the kit, I’d make my own soups/bars etc
