I just learned about Weck jars and I’m seeing conflicting information. Some sources and blogs are saying that every part of the Weck jars system are reusable. However, [Weck itself says](https://weckjars.com/54184-2/) “While some customers do choose to reuse the rubber rings, the FDA recommends disposing of a used canning ring and using a new ring each time you can with a WECK Jar.”

So I’m wondering why it’s not recommended to reuse the Weck rubber seals when [Tattler](https://www.reusablecanninglids.com/pages/information) and [Harvest Guard](https://canninglids.com/information/) gaskets are good indefinitely until they’re damaged?

Side note: [Interesting discussion](https://livinghomegrown.com/how-weck-jars-work/) about Weck jars not being approved for home canning by the USDA and what that means for practical use.
