I have been on the hunt for some 1961 Campo Viejo Reserva. Recently, I found some available at this auction:

The seller says they can ship to me in the U.S. for $120. While I do not doubt this is true, I worry about what customs will do at the border. I have been trying to understand the various rules and whether I would actually receive this wine if it was shipped to me and I am utterly confused. Some people suggest it’s no problem and to just make the order and have it shipped as the seller plans, while others suggest there’s no way this will reach me unless it’s overlooked by customs. Do you have any thoughts, input, advice, or suggestions?

I wouldn’t be worried and I would just go ahead, but I once bought 4 bottles of 1975 Chateau Talbot from a merchant in the Nederlands and I never received my wine. Tracking showed it arriving customs in New Jersey and that was it. The wine disappeared at that point.

Maybe you know how I can get this specific wine shipped to me or maybe you know where else I can source good examples of the ’61 Campo Viejo Reserva?

Thank you for reading and for considering my inquery.
Phil
