I’ve been growing my wine collection recently, and I’ve quickly outgrown two smaller, basic wine refrigerators from your typical hardware/home improvement store.
They’ve been fine for about the year I’ve had them, but I’ve since added not only a larger quantity of bottles but also a some finer wines that I plan to cellar for years before opening up.
My issue, however, is that I would gladly purchase a Eurocave and be done with it, as they seem to be high quality products, but it looks like I might be moving abroad (from the US to Europe) within a year and I don’t want to invest in a Eurocave that I can’t take with me due to power conversion issues on appliances.
So, I’m hoping people here might be able to help me. I’m looking for:
* Either advice on how to convert a Eurocave or similar quality of appliance designed for the US to work in Europe (is there an easy power converter that would work, or due to the compressor is it more complicated than that. I know there are converters that handle the switch from 110v 60HZ to 240v 50Hz; I just don’t know if they will work for an appliance.
* Recommendation for a quality wine fridge/cellar in the 150-200 bottle range that’s not terribly pricy but also not rubbish
I’ve considered a few options if I can’t convert a quality appliance:
* [AvaValley 165 Bottle](https://www.webstaurantstore.com/avavalley-wrc-165-sz-single-section-single-temperature-full-glass-door-wine-refrigerator/342WRC165SZ.html)
* [EdgeStar 151 Bottle](https://www.winecoolerdirect.com/edgestar-wine-coolers-beverage-appliances/CWR1662SZ.html)
My collection is almost exclusively reds, a lot of Bordeaux and Burgundy bottles, so I recognize that I’m going to run into issues with the Burgundy bottles fitting. If anyone knows of any brands that don’t gloss over Burgundy bottles, I’d definitely be interested.
Any advice would be welcomed, and I thank you all in advance.
