**INTRODUCTION**

The alkaline diet, pioneered by Dr. Sebi or otherwise known as Alfredo Bowman, has had its fair share of attention in recent years following the passing of Sebi himself and other pivotal breakthroughs yet there are many general misconceptions that contribute to the general lack of faith or commitment to such a restrictive regimen and its propertied ability to help aid in the curing of disease using Sebi’s organic herbal treatment. Today I’d like to walk you through some of the researched components of the diet that have gone overlooked due to a dramatic misdirection and help convey a broader picture of how the diet actually **DOES** prevent and aid disease.

**PREMISE**

Several hundred thousand or possibly even millions of years ago human civilization on Earth began in what was the heart of Africa. In a now industrialized society we are deprived of the fundamental building blocks that the natural humans were predisposed to during the infancy of our early civilization. We did not have cows, goats, sheep, corn, rice, and many other modern hybridized crops or agricultural tools at our disposal which allowed the body to retain its true nature and not expose us to the detriment of artificiality found in modern society. This is where the alkaline diet receives its reputation as being not only valuable, but absolutely the most natural diet.

**THE HIDDEN LINK**

Although at first glance it may stipulate that there aren’t any real benefits because the body’s pH is regulated through homeostasis and can not be altered on the surface by changing the foods you eat, there is in fact a hidden link between acidic, non alkaline foods and the abundance of disease that we are familiar with today.

The misconception lies in the idea that we are directly changing the pH of the body. This couldn’t be farther from the truth. While the pH of the body remains relatively unchanged based on the foods we eat the diet actually focuses on the removal of artificial waste and the acid which is causing chronic inflammation and mucus production in the body. Over time the inflammation and mucus in the body will cause the cellular erosion that is the precursor of all disease in the body, depriving it of the oxygen and minerals needed to produce proper equilibrium and therein allowing for the disruption of homeostasis in very severe cases. This is why it is essential to eat only natural unhybridized foods which promote alkalinity, give oxygen to the body and do not pave the way for the disease to become rampant within the human body. The violation is in the Western and European cultures which have mislead us by introducing the foods not natural to us and forcing us to leave behind our history. Well not anymore.

**SCIENTIFIC APPROACH**

Now for the fun part, the supporting of claims made regarding the diet and it’s therapeutic capacity to aid the human body. Although it is widely unresearched under the objective of studying strictly “the alkaline diet and the prevention of disease” there actually is a bit of research regarding the underlying mechanisms involved that cause the disease to begin with and demonstrates how acidity in the body destroys us.

Through a series of events, if we’re looking at the development of a fatal disease, the body is lead to disrupt homeostasis and consequently kill itself due to the underlying acidosis that was caused by what we eat. To reach this point it is a very intricate cascade that takes place that I will do my best to explain simply and in any meaningful order.

First is the deprivation of oxygen due to cellular injury and atrophy within the organs of the body and the inability of the blood to regulate the oxygen within the tissue. With enough consumption of acidic foods and their byproducts parts of the body enter a state of what’s referred to as hypoxia. Hypoxia meaning the deprivation of oxygen which is then mediated through **acidosis**, **oxidative stress**, **inflammation**, and **apoptosis (cell death)** where without sufficient oxygen being supplied produces a climate for disaster. Vital cells and bacteria which required such oxygen are now hindered under anaerobic conditions induced by the hypoxia and are seemingly understaffed and overwhelmed by the intrusion that has been slowly depleting your health while anaerobic bacteria is given more leisure than ever to colonize and wreak havoc within various paths taken inside of your body. With enough time, if conditions become severe enough and depending on which part of the body is affected, the homeostasis within the organ may be disrupted all together and cause the development of tell tale conditions related to the disease such as blood clotting, stroke, seizures, septic shock, heart attack, so on and so forth and will require immediate attention to prevent further disparity or morbidity. It is at this stage that many also fall victim to their disease and in turn pass away due to dysregulation of acid now that the homeostasis in the body cannot afford to maintain the body’s natural balance. This is remarkably also the case in patients with the now prevalent COVID-19 virus.

**The order of events may be as follows (Depending on the disease):**

Eats Acid Based Diet —> Chronic Inflammation and Cell Erosion in the Body —> Induces Hypoxia Due to Oxygen Deprivation —> Anaerobic Environment Ensues and Acidosis (Disease) Looms —> Homeostasis of the Organ Disrupted —> Possible Morbidity or Death

>“Many studies have found that hypoxia mediates cell injury and even cell death mainly through oxidative stress, inflammation, acidosis, and apoptosis.”

>”Hypoxia, as the main pathological mechanism of sleep apnea hypopnea syndrome, ischemic stroke, ischemic heart disease, and many other diseases, can cause endothelial cells, hippocampus neurons, and myocardial cells, as well as many other cells, injury and plays an important role in development and progression of disease.”

>“We concentrate on the changes seen in critically ill patients with acidosis because they form a large portion of the workload of the average intensive care unit. In addition, such patients have significant morbidity and mortality.“

>“The development of acidemia in the critically ill is often attributed to reductions in oxygen utilization, which in the past has generally been regarded as dysregulation of tissue blood supply. Resulting tissue hypoperfusion leads to anaerobic metabolism and lactic acidosis.”
