What an interesting wine and some cool label art also. My first Savoie. I had no idea what Gringet was. Upon further research it is a traditional Savoie grape which may be related to Savagnin. Dominique Belluard grew about half the world’s production of it until his tragic death in June 2021. Zero dosage, no sulfur and no yeast added for the base wine. Two years on lees.
Aroma has some nuts, spices and a slight funk to it. Intense bubbles, green apple, and great lemon acidity hits first but then comes lots of honey and some overripe pineapple and very slight oxidative nuttiness. A little sweetness lingers on the palate which is surprising considering the lack of dosage. Highly recommend this to anyone who wants to explore a very interesting sparking wine that is not at all a champagne.
