Opened this bottle after a rough day: experiments failing, the appearance of cancer in the family and other wonderful events.
My very first voignier and I’m already impressed. The aromas of tropical fruits rise from the bottle immediately after opening. The nose is mainly fruits, both tropical such as pineapple and mango, followed by softer notes of pear, a hint of vanilla and cream. The taste and mouthfeel are delicate, smooth and brisk. I taste light notes of wood, butter, some mango and a slight minerality. Even while drinking, the fruit aroma comes back up in the nose beautifully, aiding complexity. This might be my first Cevennes Voignier, but I’m definitely going to explore the grape and the region further.
