Looks good, we love to get this at the fair or festivals! Do you have a link to the recipe?

In Bosnian we call those uštipci! Must be very common across many cultures since they’re so easy to make.

It is raw dough fried in a pan with generous amounts of oil in the pan, that is the recipe. Medium high heat, fry til golden brown as shown.

My roommate (Oneida) promised me for years that he was going to make me fry bread. He finally made it for me on my birthday one year and I wept with joy. 🙂 He claimed that he screwed up the recipe, but holy shit it was still amazing.

That looks just like the way my Ojibwe in-laws make fry bread. They fry it in lard, not vegetable oil, however.

Fresh out of the pan it is SOOO good…

I was told that fry bread is considered racist to make. Is that true?

I dream of bannock. Bannock loaves… bannock with sugar and cinnamon… bannock burgers… bannock hot dogs… it’s so deliciously versatile.
