Syrah is my favorite grape by far, and this is one I’ve been looking forward to for quite a while. I have some 2019s in the cellar, but they’re still not ready to come out and play yet. This is my first Bionic Frog and my first Cayuse, let’s find out if it lives up to the hype.
Decanted for 2 hours at cellar temperature, and enjoyed over the next 4. Paired with couscous and grilled sausage.
Heavy alcohol on the nose, but that was only for the first half hour or so. Blackberry and graphite under the alcohol. Right off the bat you can tell that this is a serious wine.
The wine is almost black in color, with thick legs after a swirl in the glass. On the palate, the blackberry explodes, minimal spice and light herbal notes. The finish lasts for almost 30 seconds, and makes your mouth water. I paid $230 for this bottle, and it was worth every penny. Really looking forward to the 2019s around 2040.

I haven’t had a Frog yet, but I’m looking forward to it!

Good eye! That’s my awkwardly sized bottle shelf. SQN makes killer wines and then puts them in obnoxiously shaped bottles. It kills me.

Just checked, I have one bottle each of the 11, 12 & 14 so maybe in a couple of years

On my bucket list! I just love the juxtaposition of a kooky fun label on a serious fine wine

Very very jealous. Syrah is also my favorite grape. Currently drinking a non-Cayuse consolation prize – 2013 Reynvaan In the Rocks. No slouch at all but not quite Cayuse.
