It’s spring onions. They use this as toppings for soups. They grill it whole in mexican food

Based on looks, they are just maybe a different variety of green onion.. but they look like green onions to me except the purpleish areas…

Maybe they were lacking in specific element? I know that less/more nitrogen or phosphorus in the soil can change plants appearances… But other than that…

    No idea

The biggest identifying feature I notice on these is that the tops of the leaves are flat instead of being rounded and hollow like most green onions. This reminds me of garlic chives, but these are quite thick compared to what I’m used to seeing for garlic chives, however maybe this will help someone who knows more ID them?

We have something here locally that looks almost identical called ramps.

Based on the purple bulb and the flat blades I think it is spring garlic.

if it has little bulbils on the side, it’s [Allium scorodoprasum](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Allium_scorodoprasum), also known as Korean pickled-peel garlic.

However it can also be found at several parts of Europe as well as it doesn’t require a special habitat.

It has a taste almost just like the normal garlic, but one of its main attributes is that it can spread via its little bulbils.

I’d say young garlic. Ramps have purple coloring too, but tend to have a larger bulb.

Ramps aren’t this thick and to early in the season for them. This is green garlic.
