I can’t believe how bad it is! I did not venture out much yesterday so I am shocked this morning!

  1. It’s been liquid raining over here this morning. My poor old dog looked like she was doing a hip hop dance when she went out back this morning because the yard was so slick. The road out front looks ok though and it has had some traffic with folks starting to venture out. The cars seem to be moving along no problem so I think things are improving over this way. Hopefully the worst of this storm is over and we’ll all be a thawed out muddy mess later today!

  2. I've been in since it started Monday! Not even to get mail, it can wait, if even delivered. I pray the postmen aren't out either. Good tIme to read and try to stay warm. I missed my volunteering but a fall at my age could be disastrous so I'm in till it's all gone. You be very careful!! Much love.🥰💖🙏🙏 God bless.

  3. Hoping you get through this okay. I haven't been able to get our of my house the past two days due to thick ice on the concrete walk, further slickened with water from melting icicles. Even the birds are sliding around and my small dog took some tumbles. From the window, I can see that my feijoa bushes are bending and breaking under the ice load, so worry about power lines. The feeders I filled just before the storm have been emptied out by birds desperate for something to eat that isn't encased in ice.

  4. We have just enough precipitation here in Central Texas to make roads hazardous and with low temps the ice isn't going anywhere. Stayed home from work since Tuesday, will attempt a late arrival at 10 today. Temp is 30 so maybe I can get a break.

  5. Wow, certainly a very nasty storm! Was holding my breath when you were walking on that ice Jilly. Glad y'all haven't had any broken power lines. Stay in, stay safe, gonna be ok in a day or so they say.

  6. I think I held my breath the whole video. We have no ice or freezing here as of yet…southeast Texas…I think Friday night they are saying is when we get it. But good bit of rain..pretty steady.
    Praying your power stays cranking….everybody.
Keep staying safe as possible. Glad Pops is not moving around. If everyone will stay hunkered down and wait it out…better than broken bones in the ER.
Hang in there buddy. Jesus bless.

  7. This is crazy! I graduated from Dalhart used to the weather. But since I have moved to South Texas snow for a week 2 yes or so ago! An now this freezing sleet an rain for more than 3 days! Should of stayed North! 🤠

  8. About an hour from College Station and it’s bad here, power company said to expect to be out through weekend.

  9. We were hit really hard, in Williamson County, north of Austin. Power lines down all over the area with major tree damage from over 1” of ice buildup. Oncor is bringing in tons of folks to help out, but it will be a long time before everybody’s power is restored. Hopefully we get above freezing today after 75+ hrs 32 and below.

  10. I am so ready for this to be gone. I live alone and am worried about falling on the ice while taking care of the animals. It's bad at my place too.

  11. I'm in Ellis county and I was surprised that it was not that bad this morning. I can still see the ground through the ice. The only bad part was my stairs. I had to salt them so I could go let my shop cat out and feed him.

  12. I remember one farmer highly recommended buying crampons for walking on ice and I wonder why more farmers don't talk about it? They are available from Dicks Sporting Goods and other retailers online. Good crampons are an expensive investment, but a slip and fall doing daily chores could be devasting to a family farm operation. Thank you for your video update today, please stay safe out there. 🙂

  13. Jill, here in northern Tn. We have had 3 days of ice rain also. Being 81 yrs old ,I have not put my nose outside. I’m not that steady walking let alone on ice. You stay safe and don’t fall. God bless stay warm.

  14. Icicles, icy all over outside except right out side our greenhouse. We lost power for several hours, but we had a kerosene heater for the GH and nothing froze there. Fireplace in the house–we didn't freeze either…LOL. Sure don't like newer cook stoves that depend on electric ignition instead of thermocouples like the old ones. We can use the burners, but not the oven. I was canning onion stock(Kneady Homesteader has a video on that), and had done the first batch, but was able to use a lighter for the burner and finish the second batch. 39 pints and had one that didn't seal. We're at 32 right now and icicles are slowly dripping. In addition to all our normal birds, we have a couple robins. Gives us hope that Spring is really coming. Stay warm and stay home, stay safe. everyone

  15. Get some salt in a small path to pops house…even softener salt will help if you get the small pellets….or just smash the bigger pellets…since this is going to be a hot dry summer, you might want to check out white and black shade cloth for the tunnels or your raised beds.🥰 get ready Jilly! You got this!!

  16. Give me snow any day, ice is the worst! You might want to invest in some Yaktrax. It seems as though this is going to happen every couple years down there.

  17. Wise county: we were going to go to the store when the temperature got above freezing, but I called the Sheriff's dept to ask about road conditions, and they said they were still icy. I know that our yard is a sheet of ice.

  18. We are starting to thaw out here in south Denton county. We never lost power and because it didn’t get terribly cold our plumbing was okay. We did have about 1/2 inch of solid ice on everything yesterday, but it’s melting.

  19. Excellent video Jill. Yesterday here in central jersey we had our first trace of snow this winter, more like a light dusting not much to talk about… Thank you for always taking the time to makes these videos, I appreciate everyone believe me… 5:53 camera shot is just awesome, it's like I'm right there.
