I made a budget meal even more budget friendly this week when I had a zero dollar grocery budget. Home made baked beans with home made bread. I was lucky enough to have the staples needed

2 cups dried beans soaked overnight(whatever you’ve got but I used cannellini) 3 cups water 2 tsp Worcestershire 6 tbsp tomato sauce (ketchup) 2 tbsp tomato paste 2 chicken/veggie stock cubes 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar 1/2 tsp garlic powder 1/2 tsp onion powder 1 tsp salt
8 tsp cornstarch (corn flour) mixed into 1/4 cup water
Soak beans overnight then simmer in fresh water for 1 – 1.5 hours or until softened
Throw everything EXCEPT the beans and cornstarch mixture into a pot and stir.
Add beans and simmer uncovered for 20 minutes
Mix in cornstarch mixture and cook for a couple more minutes.
Bread recipe is just whatever’s on the back of the bread flour bag

If you want to go even cheaper in your yard grab a few sq feet of land if you have it and plant and dry out your own beans. A little work but it actually puts you in the money saved not just null priced. Congrats and it looks fantastic.
A-Better-Craft
If you really wanna spoil yourself, fry up some onion and thinly sliced sausage/hot dog and add to the beans.
