I wanted to share this method of using a PVC structure to provide support for growing indeterminate tomatoes.

Pros: sturdy and durable, will probably last forever

Cons: moderately pricey and difficult to assemble

    Pearls:

    * use 1 inch PVC for a big structure, smaller PVC will have more sagging and instability
    * Home Depot bulk PVC is great because it comes in 10 ft sections
    * after trying both, I prefer using Formufit couplings rather than the stuff at Home Depot – which is probably fine for plumbing but not ideal for PVC structures

Feel free to ask me any questions. Lets have a great 2023 gardening season!

Brilliant! You might want to crosspost to r/patiogardening

  3. This is super interesting! Are you growing your peas in grow bags as well? I’m impressed by your pvc patio garden jungle!

What’s the cost for something like this? Why not use wood when lumber is so cheap again

  5. Do you anchor to the ground or house in any way? Or does the size/shape of the structure itself self-support?

I’m looking to upgrade my vertical tomato system from last year and this could be an option. Looks great!
