My sad weight loss journey. I used to eat 1500 calories to get from 165lbs to 147. Now I weigh 100lbs more.

So what’s the plan to get back there?

1500 may be too low to start at and could set you up for failure long term.

Why did you stop eating 1500cal/day?

there’s good news you can see in the chart too – it’s going down again! take it easy, rapid weight loss is very stressful for the body. also depending on your height, 1500 might be barely BMR. I’m a petite woman so 1500 kcal is my maintenance maximum, while for taller people 1700-1800 is necessary for sustainable weight loss.
the only “habit”/”decision” that let me lose 7 kg over the course of the previous year (slow but steady!) was – choose if you want to snack or if you want full meals. having both will inevitably cause you to overeat. i chose to have at most one 600-700 kcal meal per day while the remaining calories came from snacks whenever i had time outside of studying and working. i skipped breakfast because then i would be able to sleep more, then i snacked during the day and finished my day with a “proper” meal or not depending on how many times i had snacked.

My sister wanted to cut her calories down to 1500. For her it however didn’t make sense. We looked at what she was eating normally, which was around 3000-3500 kcal, at her weight and height she needs a lot to sustain it so cutting that by 700 kcal was our first step. She was around the same weight as you were at your highest. She and I both know that if she would have cut too many calories she would have not been able to stick with it this long and lose what she has lost due to binging and so on.

The thing is if you start at 1500 and hit a plateau then you have barely any room to cut your calories further, Your much better using a macro calculator to find your maintenance and just lower it slightly and hit 10k steps a day then each week increase those step goals so you have a deficit from exercise rather than cutting calories to low.
