So, I made the soup and I’m a little bit underwhelmed with the flavour.
I made it exactly as described with the only difference being I used my instant pot on slow cook on high and sautee’d the onion and made a roux from the flour. I didn’t substitute any of the fats or dairy, no low fat options, I used chicken thighs with fat.
The colour is rich. The chicken is in shreds it’s so fallen apart. I used a generous amount of powdered chicken stock that’s to my taste. Very generous scoop of garlic.
It’s just… fine. I find myself really disliking slow cooker food because I always find them very plain. I’m not trying to be a hater or negative. I’m not time poor so using a slow cooker to save time isn’t important to me.
Why did my broth taste so bland? It tastes like slightly tangy cream. The best part was the cheese ravioli and it’s from a packet from the supermarket.

I had a half arsed go at it the other week, used homemade stock and threw the hard leftover end of parmasan in to boil for a while, bacon and spinach for colour and a leek because i was out of onion. It was pretty good.

I made it a month or so back. Like you I followed the recipe and I just thought it was totally bland. I agree with your choice of words it was entirely underwhelming. TBH if I’d really thought about the ingredients rather than just believing the hype I would never have bothered.
