I wanted to share my results from taking a 2 week diet break. Initially I was very anxious about doing it, I was worried how much weight I would put on and that I may have trouble getting back on track afterwards. In the end I decided to go through with it after doing some research.
Adherence wasn’t really a big problem for me even pre-diet break, the biggest issue for me was that I had been putting off a lot of social engagements, I just find it too troublesome to wine and dine when you are on such a limited caloric intake and then tracking that food is a hassle. So I really made sure to fill my schedule with socials during these 2 weeks which I realized after, I really needed.
With that said I didn’t go crazy every single day of my break and eat 3k+ calories or anything. But for my break I decided two things, 1) I wouldn’t limit myself to any foods or limit my intake of foods, I ate at maccas, had non diet coke, potato chips and some sweets when I felt like it and 2) I wouldn’t track my macros.
The results speak for themselves. To be fair I do believe I did probably gain a little bit of fat but lost some a little bit of lean muscle mass so the net effect on the scale was zero. I know for sure that I didn’t hit my protein macros but that’s ok. I feel confident I can regain that. Overall the results were better than I expected, I had expected to gain about 2 lbs so not seeing any net weight changes was a pleasant surprise.

I find I have a 2 week lag before seeing any results I.e. if I have a big deficit in week 1 I won’t see weight loss till week 3. Will be interesting to see how your body adapts to the break. I hope it works for you

I’m a big advocate for diet breaks at maintenance calories. I suggest you also consider 1-2 days per week. You can lose weight eating at a deficit during the workweek and limiting calories to maintenance on the weekends. It depends how long the weight loss will take overall. If you forgo all social events for a year, you might end up losing friends, but weight loss can easily take longer than that. You can also stick to deficit but just have mini diet breaks during any social events.

You gained one kg, Could also be fluids! Don’t be too worried about minor fluctuations 🙂
Since I broke my hand 4 weeks ago I gained 3.2kg of fat, lost 1kg of muscle. Total gained 2.4kg I binged and threw everything out the window. Emotional and boredom eating.

That’s me on a 1 day diet break tbh. 😂 If I eat lime my old self one day I gain 3lbs. You’ll get back on track OP, don’t be too hard on yourself. We can’t control our diet 100% of the time but even 50% is better than none at all. You’ll drop weight soon again!

Hope this doesn’t go against the sub rules.
