  1. Use FLY PAPER in your tent.
The more fly paper , the less insects your gonna have.
That will stop fungus nats, which makes Russet Mites.
Tomatoes are difficult to grow, cause they get covered in Mites.
Tomatoe plants can be a source of insects.
    Some plants are more delicate.
I had to learn about fly paper as a last resort.
No one online said anything about it, that I could find.
Wish someone told me 3 years ago about it.

  2. Long time fan. Good video and process! My third year. 1) Yes, must check moisture daily. I use buckets and the GroTech Garden GroBucket Self-Watering Planter Insert, MADE IN USA – Automatic Watering System for Potted Plants. 2) The soil scientist, Gardening in canada, has several videos on fungus gnats. Never had a problem with fungus gnats, but still hang fly strips to catch those that get through. 3) Starting with fewer containers is smart. First year I crammed in 11 or 12 buckets but 8 buckets gave the plants more room and was more manageable. 4) Adding minerals and fertilizer absolutely, revitalize soil per your video each cycle, 5) I grow two kinds of peppers (on-going), plus determinate tomatoes (two in succession) and potatoes (two in succession), one pak choi or similar, and one whatever I feel like. And 6) Like you, start seedlings outside (tomatoes, potatoes, etc.), and rotate in as you harvest. Factor in productivity and time to harvest against market cost and rotation to decide what is worth while.

  3. I used peat today as an experiment with my tomatoes. Planted 2, 72 cell trays, one was with a peat starting mix the other was leaf mold. To keep everything the same, I added a scoop of perlite and vermiculite to both. I have been using leaf mold as a seed starter for the last two years, I just want to do a side by side experiment. I know the leaf mold works, Just going to make a video to show that it does.
Disclaimer! The leaf mold I am using I had to cook to kill off any potential jumping worms. I added compost and worm casting extract to the leaf mold in November, then added some red wigglers to put some life back into the leaf mold.
I am convinced leaf mold is a superior seed starter over peat or coco choir.
    Stay Well!!!

  4. Well, Scott. I am so happy for you. I always feel bad for you, that you have to wait so long to plant. Now, you can grow right along with some of us. Then again, when you are able to go outside and plant…🥵🥵WE are stuck inside. It all works out.

  5. Growing Shishito peppers this year for the first time. Hope they are as good as I've heard they are.

  6. Whatever you do dont add veggies regrown from scraps from the store. I planted some celery and suddenly had such an attack of thrips nothing I did got rid of them and they killed everything!

  7. The belief that vegitables aren't nearly as healthy for us as they were 50 years ago has been bandied about for some time. Spinach, for instance having a seventh the amount of some minerals than in the days of Popeye the Sailor Man.
I'm a sun-grown man myself (including cannabis, which is the major "Spider-farmer" market.)
    Minerals?
    Seaweed maybe?
    Greensand?

  8. Nice.

I've just started usi g a secret Jardin Dp120 growtent this year as i dont have decent wi dows for enough light for seedlings and also dont have the space in the house so the tent is in an unheated garage.

I'm using my growtent for starting off my toms, squash, peppers, cucumbers, corn and early veg to bring them on before moving down to the allotment.

You might want to get a fan or two to keep the air moving and to help the plants strengthen their stems.

Two things that i think might be a problem with my 5 level tent is humidity and diminishing CO2 levels.

  9. Thanks for another great video. I think grow tents are great, but not having enough room for one I've had to make one out of a small a 35 x 14 x 61 inch rack with lights in my small laundry room, which just leaves just enough room to open the washer & dryer doors, that I wrapped is some reflective, thin insulation. I will tune in to your grow tent adventures with great interest, as I'd like to try out some dwarf tomatoes in my setup next winter. Red

  10. Hey Gardener Scott, I've got a question for you. I try my best to plant by the signs. This weekend is good for below ground crops. The nighttime temps are going to be in the mid 20's for the next three days as well as three days next week. My question is, can I plant my potatoes in 20 gallon grow bags that are a little over half full of soil? Will the cut pieces survive those temps?
