Recipe:

2lbs dried green peas, soaked in water for at least 24hrs

2 small yellow onions, diced

3-4 carrots peeled and diced

4-5 stalks celery, diced

1TBSP Dried Parsley

1/2 tsp Celery Salt

1 tsp Garlic Powder

1 tsp Onion Powder

2-3 Bay Leaves

Better Than Boullion – Ham Flavored (chicken, beef, or vegetable boullion also works)

1lb Smoked Sausage, diced

Salt and Pepper to taste

Place soaked peas in slow cooker with celery, onion, carrots, herbs and spices.

Follow instructions for making broth with Better Than Boullion. Use enough to cover peas and diced veggie mixture in cooker.

Set to high and cover. After about 6-7 hours you can mash the peas to desired consistency, and add broth or water for a more soupy dish.

Brown smoked sausage in pan, or add directly to slowcooker. Allow to cook for another hour and serve.
