Welcome back to our cottage garden. Now that April has arrived, it’s time for tulips! Most of our Darwin Hybrid tulips are flowering now, so we will give you a tour of those. You can see how our mini meadow is developing, with primroses, daffodils and snake’s head fritillaries. Also a little look around our greenhouse and polytunnel to see the vegetables we are growing this year.

  1. The red tulips 🌷 are nice! I would definitely leave them be. Absolutely stunning garden.

  2. A couple thoughts. You might want to put some of your purple sprouting broccoli in the poly tunnel. They don't do well if it gets really cold again and they're so shallow rooted that they're terribly susceptible to falling over in the wind. I like the idea of having the bare area in herbs if there's no other space closer to the house for them but my thought for the bare spot was that your fairytale house and gardens needs lots of butterflies. It's best to provide plants that are native to your area but the ones I plant in the NW US are rhizome perennials.

  3. I’m so glad you’re keeping the red tulips ……. possibly!!!! What about swapping some over with the pink ones? Would that mute the red and balance the two beds? Just a thought. Beautiful as always.

  4. The fritilleria look so intricate, I planted 15 corns and only two came up in the second year, witb leaves but no flowers, gonna keep my fingers crossed anyways😂

  5. Thank you for responding… that's cute you said flockdown. I love seeing them running around… yes flockdown best for now dont want them to be sick and pass away.

  6. Wow, that bench and sink what a find!! It’s my first year with a green house- enjoying it very much. (It’s a little one 6’x4’! ). Although I don’t have a charming cottage like yours, I’m gradually creating a cottage garden, I wish I could show you and get your suggestions about it.

  7. Life like to come cup of tea afternoon to see backyard frontyard Love natures & good natures

  8. Lovely garden! I'm a believer in removing things you don't love especially if they're in a prime real estate location. Maybe dig up the red tulips and give them away to a friend so it doesn't feel so wasteful. I think every year you're going to be "putting up with them" when the whole point is to have something that brings you happiness and joy. Or maybe since there's so many, get rid of 50 or so each year and replace with something else so it's not such a big job all at once.
Thanks for sharing your space. I really love the meadow area, it makes me want to do something similar.

  9. Your garden is wonderful! Cauliflowers make great rice for curries, and the rice freezes well

  10. Your beautiful garden has really inspired me to embrace spring flowers more I’ve always been focused on summer instead! I want to plant lots of tulips do/can you plant them in the same beds that are filled with the summer flowering perennials?

  18. The Spring garden looks beautiful! I’m in the US and I always see Eden and Koko Loko online, they are both so pretty, so that is going to be such a nice addition. I have to agree with another commenter, maybe you could try mixing the pink and red tulips, that color combination is always visually nice

  19. Great update, enjoyed your tour 😊! I know what rose Eden looks like, it's really beautiful pink and white colours. Can you please tell me where did you buy it from? Any website?
