A bit about me: My spouse and I are breakfast taco & coffee people, but we also have business hours jobs. If I don’t have my coffee and breakfast tacos in-hand by 7:05 AM on weekdays, I’m not considering you. (Nothing personal.) So, we tried Foxtrot! The 6:30 AM opening is a huge positive.

Taco thoughts: I got the bacon and egg. Spouse got the migas. Y’all, I don’t complain about taco sizes. Ever. I internally roll my eyes when people complain about an appropriately-sized breakfast taco. *These* are almost as small as Ole Mex taquitos. These were barely wider than the salsa container. (The salsa container in my reference photo is 1 oz.)

Both of us ordered the red salsa. The barista was “pretty sure” red salsa was spicier than the green. The red is *not* spicy. I wish I’d tried both. Salsa was serviceable, nothing to rave about. (I will say it tasted fresher than jarred salsa.) Eggs were fresh, bacon was decent.

That tortilla, though? I’ve never had a *soft* flour tortilla crack on me. Like it fell apart. I prefer opening my tacos, then adding salsa as a topping. You can’t do that with these.

$3.75 for a tiny taco that falls apart.

Allergen info: These are pre-wrapped, so you can’t remove the cheese. No corn tortilla options. There are no vegan breakfast taco options. (Foxtrot does have a freezer of vegan and GF goods in the convenience area, though.)

The espresso-based drink I ordered was good. I *might* go back for another taco/coffee, just in case the split tortilla is a fluke. And to check the spiciness of the salsa verde.

Oh, and those of y’all who rant about autograt will love this place: There’s no tip line on the POS.

  2. It’s a brand new store. It’ll get better but pre made good night not. Dallas froxtrots are very good. We’ll see. The coffee I had was delicious but they gave me an 8oz without asking if I’d like a 12oz. I hate when that happens. Who wants 8oz of coffee?

The tortilla doesn’t look terrible but I can tell this is a scrambled egg taco with a slice of bacon. It’s my firm belief that tacos need their ingredients cooked together. They aren’t assembled like a sandwich.

  4. It’s a Chicago based chain so this picture makes sense now.

God, there are so many better options within a half mile of this place.

    Also, thanks for the review!

Looks a little underfilled but the typical majorly underwhelming breakfast taco.

  7. CrimsonScorpio9

That thing was $3.75? That’s ridiculous!

That’s unfortunate. Their prepackaged lunch sandwiches are pretty good. I like the gesture towards having a hot breakfast option, but it’s hard to get away with prepackaged heat lamp breakfast tacos when half the espresso machines in the city have a catered assortment of ~~fresh~~ same day TacoDeli tacos sitting next to them.

Being stingy on the eggs on a $4 taco leaves an inadequate taste in the mouth.

More like a breakfast taquito! That thing is tiny!

  11. NebulousPancakes

That is not a taco. That is a tortilla with eggs and bacon.

  12. BrownWallyBoot

That looks not great and certainly a rip off for $3.75.

I’ve started making breakfast tacos at home with the HEB raw tortillas and my own homemade salsa. Takes about 5 minutes to make, significantly cheaper and comes out better than most places in town tbh. It’s not hard to make good breakfast tacos.

Damn I just stumbled onto this sub by accident and that’s the fucking worst breakfast taco I’ve ever seen(also it’s almost rolled enough to be a burrito)

  14. bastarditis

this looks like the breakfast they would give us in gradeschool

  15. Govan888

Why would you post this online? I’m offended.

  16. Jamesthegreat91

That tortilla needs a bit more time on the comal

This is pathetic looking. Boycott that place. Where is it?
