It’s amazing, the garlic oil is perfection!
SneakAttackSN2
Don’t go, they ruined me for all other pizza. I’m a Fresca bitch now

Pizza lovers should also try pizzeria via mercanti in Kensington market
infinitesmegma
Fresca is my absolute favourite slice in the city and it’s CHEAP

I slather the shit out of that garlic oil. Has anyone tried their lasagna though? They never seem to have it when I ask

North of Brooklyn for me

This looks like the way Vesuvio’s in the Junction used to be, especially the crust. I absolutely loved it.
Did you ever have Vesuvios? If you did, are they similar?

Is that margherita? It looks like dirty pizza. Nothing wrong with that, but it is ugly.

Its only the best if you adjust for cost. That said, i love it. The basil calzone though is the real star.
TheBHGFan
It’s damn good but wouldn’t say it’s the best. The marg is too heavy on the garlic imo. But if anyone has more reccs for this type of cheap no frills hole in the wall places, hit me up
I stopped going when they kept getting yellow cards from the city health inspector

Has anyone tried burattino pizza?
gentlelion789

As a New Yorker, I can tell this pizza isn’t my style by looking at it, but I’d like to try it if it tastes as good as people say.
SALADAYS-4DAYS
Yes.

Ya Fresca is unreal, I don’t know how they do it

Doubtful
Too much cheese. It masks all of the delicious flavour of everything else.
Plus it is going to cause the crust to get soggy. And when you pull a piece away from the pie, all of the cheese and toppings will slip off.
Nice to look at…

With how many subgenres pizza has, I’m not sure that trying to declare a best pizza overall makes sense. No matter how good Fresca is, I doubt it would be considered best for someone who was looking for a more traditional Italian style of pizza. I appreciate most styles of pizza done well, so I will have to try Fresca.
On that note, if you do like traditional Italian pizza I would strongly suggest trying Cafe Oro di Napoli. They deviate from most Neapolitan style pizzerias in cooking their crusts more (I think they might run their oven extra hot?) and the crunch it gives their crusts really elevates their pizzas over the Librettos and Mercantis in my eyes. I also think the Cafe Oro Di Napoli location is noticeably better than the original Oro Di Napoli location in the west end, and that the only Mercanti location worth a damn is the original one in Kensington.

it is the best in town!

Yeah I went here on a binge to find the best sloppy style pizza from my childhood. This was the best one. Funnily enough its owned by a Vietnamese couple.

Fresca’s is legit; always cool to see Vietnamese influences in fusion/non-traditional cuisine (the Fresca garlic herb oil reminiscent to traditional Vietnamese scallion oil).
I ordered it, they said 20 mins but when I came back they hadn’t started it yet. I wait another 15 mins before I say anything
Me: umm…did you start my calzone yet?
Them: no
No apologies.
This place feels like the soup nutso from seinfeld..

Just makes me miss Massimo’s in the late 80s… didn’t know how lucky I was to go to Lord Lansdowne and eat one of those slices every week in grade 7 and 8. I’ll have to make a trip across town for some pizza nostalgia

The story and the Globe and Mail article, if you can get past the paywall, is great too. https://www.theglobeandmail.com/news/toronto/meet-torontos-new-masters-of-the-pizza/article26760501/
