It’s a good list, but no Quarter Sheets?

  2. Remarkable-Hawk3181

Give these a try too: Ghisallos. Hail Mary. Triple Beam. Apollonia’s

  3. Annual_Ant_4289

I love DeSano! It’s like a cross between Neapolitan and NYC style. L’Antica is great too. List needs some Triple Beam tho

i think quarter sheets is #1 in LA right now, in part because you can also get the slab cake. (last time i was there, it was a lemon cake. oh buddy.) a close #2 is pizzeria bianco, also in part because they had a truly transcendent passion-fruit sorbet

on pizzeria sei: i thought the diavola was good, but not particularly memorable. but i thought the first few bites of the bismarck — when it’s really hot and you get the full flavor profile with the egg — were excellent. but after that, the rest of the pizza tails off to just good but not memorable.

on pizzana: had the cacio and pepe and don’t understand the hype.

jon & vinnys: has been criticized so much for so long (mostly for reasons that have nothing to do with the food), that its pizza is now underrated.

dino’s pizza in burbank is the best pizza in the valley (and, i think, the best “classic” pizza in LA — think the kind of pizza that the teenage mutant ninja turtles used to eat or you would order on friday nights when you were 10)

and i haven’t been back since it reopened, but oaks gourmet in franklin village had some very good pizzas

[also the plain old pepperoni pizza at shakey’s is good — they put something sweet in the tomato sauce, and it’s good]

Try the Pepperoni Vodka at U Street Pizza in Pasadena. It might make your next list.

  6. yardfather2018

Thank you for Ozzy’s shout out! We appreciate all you wonderful LA pizza lovers out there

  7. IAmPandaRock

I LOVE Dough Box, but Pizzana’s truffle pizza is number 1 for me.

  8. b1gmouth

Great list! If you haven’t already, definitely check out Gjelina Takeaway, Bianco, Ghisallo, Emmy Squared, Little Dynamite, and Pizzeria Sei.

  9. Holy hell, the Goomba looks really great.

Recently had a Southbay up-and-comer called Miller Butler. So good. They’ve been doing pop-ups and will hopefully open a brick and mortar in the future!

Also, perfect timing cuz it looks to be “Pizza Day” at Row LA today: [https://la.smorgasburg.com/calendar/2022/10/16/3rd-sunday-of-the-month-record-fair-xgkhm-xdkls-h9gnc-67jmn-cpb48-xhjyw-zer33](https://la.smorgasburg.com/calendar/2022/10/16/3rd-sunday-of-the-month-record-fair-xgkhm-xdkls-h9gnc-67jmn-cpb48-xhjyw-zer33)

  10. SnooPies5622

Quarter Sheets, Pizzana, Secret Pizza, Apollonia, Hail Mary, Dough Daddy, and Ronan are a few places I’d put above many here

Always happy to see Desano mentioned though, that place is just great

  11. mdelao17

John & Vinny’s and Desano look like my type 🔥

  12. monotekdm

Prime is so underrated, prefer the Sicilian as my fav but overall an inexpensive and delicious slice. I give Masa’s the edge over Doughbox but I enjoy them both.

  13. LA_burger

My favorites are prime Prime, Quarter Sheets, and Magma (in Moorpark).

Really want to try Appolonia’s for both their detroit style and NY style.

  14. incominghottake

Has anyone tried doughbriks on sunset?

  15. I don’t like Mozza at all. Bland, overpriced, brittle. And the valet line blocks traffic on Melrose and Highland. Triple Beam or Apollonia’s are superior.

  16. NgoHaiHahmsuplo

No slice and pint? This list is null and void.

  17. IAMTHESILVERSURFER

Appolinia’s, Quarter Sheets, Masa, Sei etc… It’s a good thing that people are arguing over what was left out. We have some good options!

  18. I was worried you omitted Tomato Pie. Good job OP.

  19. Drimesque

    i’m gonna be honest guys…

    i like CPK pizza

  20. hollahalla

Thanks for the recs! The pizza from Desano looks so good.

  21. stepdad666

Joes pizza isn’t even mentioned here. Pretty crazy. Lamonicas too. GTA is so expensive but it’s really tasty too

  22. ginbooth

I just had Dtown this week. Possibly, the best pie I’ve ever had. I’m going to have to go again next week to make sure I’m not delusional. I was certain it would not live up to the hype but it did.

  23. UltimaCaitSith

If anyone is ever eastward in Monrovia, try the pizzas at Zelos. They use a cornmeal crust that’s to die for.

  24. savvysearch

    1. Pizzeria Sei
    2. Mother Wolf
    3. Gjelina
    4. Folks
    5. Pizzana
    6. Mozza
    7. Hail Mary
    8. Pijja Palace
    9. Quarter Sheets
    10. Pizzeria Bianco

Really just a random list for mine. I can list another 11-20 that would easily switch out with any in this top 10 list and it would be seamless. LA is oversaturated with good pizza. I think this city may have the widest range of styles (from Japanese all the way to Indian). We’re missing good reps for tavern/bar style thin crust/Chicago style and New Haven that haven’t gained traction(Ozzys Apizza seems promising).

  25. optionalhero

Add Farina Pizza in Ktown to the list. Best pizza in LA for me

  26. getwhirleddotcom

    Respect the list. Missing Gjelinas.

  27. WheelJack83

I really like Dtown but it’s far from me.

  28. maddogmdd

    Faves in no particular order:

    Hollywood Pies (esp native style)

Masa of Echo Park (deep dish and just a great cozy restaurant)

    The Coop (solid neighborhood spot)

Secret Pizza (round and square both great)

Apollonia’s (round and Detroit both great)

    Prime Pizza (esp Grandma pie)

    DTown Pizza (solid Detroit)

    Jon and Vinny’s (underrated)

    On deck to try:

    Ozzy’s

    DeSano

    Doughbox

    Quarter Sheets

    Slice and Pint
