I am using this recipe for dinner tonight, it’s my first time doing rice in the crock pot. The recipe calls specifically for instant rice, which I’ve never used before. Can I substitute with plain uncooked rice, or will this mess it up somehow? Thanks!

You can certainly use the regular, but you will need to modify your recipe by adjusting cooking time and amount of liquid, I think. Good luck, and let us know how it turned out!

Yes. I don’t like instant rice & always use regular. I would definitely use less regular rice than the recipe calls for. Maybe go with 1 1/2 – 2 cups instead of almost 3 cups of instant. Regular puffs up more & will absorb the juice. Just be sure to cook it long enough. If you bite into it & it isn’t soft enough, cook it a little longer. If its too dry, just add more chicken broth.
