Coffee lovers have this question on what to order at a coffee shop – Cold Brew or Iced Coffee? What is the difference between the two?

One of the main differences between cold brew and iced coffee is the brewing process. Cold brew is made by steeping coarsely ground coffee in cold water for an extended period of time, usually 12-24 hours. The coffee is then strained to remove the grounds, and the resulting liquid is a concentrated, smooth, and slightly sweeter coffee.

Iced coffee, on the other hand, is made by brewing hot coffee and then chilling it by adding ice. This method can result in a more acidic and bitter taste, as the heat from the brewing process can extract more of the undesirable flavors from the coffee beans.

What are you talking about? No one serves hot brewed coffee on ice when you ask for iced coffee…..

This is something I often have to clarify at my shop. There are many types of iced coffee. Cold brew is one of them. Half the time when people say “iced coffee” after a couple questions we realize they want an iced latte. Coffee is wild in how many people drink it so often but are entirely detached from how it’s made and what comprises different drinks.

that make sense. But it depends on many factors like the type of the coffee, the roasting, the grind size…
Although I like less sweeter coffee, I find Starbucks’s cold brew harsh and bitter !
