My wife took me to Otoko for my birthday and it was a really special experience. We did the 20 course omakase and every dish was truly unique. The chefs were engaging as they prepared and did an awesome job explaining everything. Highlights for me:
– The Hassun course was simply put together but deep in flavors.
– The Aji was the highlight of the sushi portion.
– The ocean trout was perfectly balanced.
I would definitely go back for another special occasion. It completely exceeded my expectations.

Loved our evening at Otoko! It’s quite expensive but worth it 🤍
And unsure if OP knew or was aware, each Otoko reservation also gets you a 30min reservation to the bar Watertrade that is there front.
When I went they had an amazing selection of Mocktails and normal cocktails.
I got the Slow Luck-y Sour (Slow Luck Zero Proof, Egg white, Poppy, lemon, Szechuan peppercorn, white sesame, yuzu) that was pretty good – 17$ but what do you expect?
Easily the best meal I’ve had in Austin was at Otoko. And such a fun experience.
Been several times, always love it. Can’t agree that it’s ever exceeded my expectations though, because at the cost it is, it’s hard to even meet mine.
