What grocery store is this?
ThomRedYYZ
They were on sale for around $3.00 to $3.50 at Food Basics, Wal-Mart, No Frills, and local Chinese supermarkets just 3 weeks ago.
If you don’t shop around, and go to these ripoff wasp’y grocery stores to pay these overpriced levels, that’s your problem.

Gasp!(berries)

One of the more difficult things to adapt to here was for 6 months: getting used to seeing what was available in the market (reasonably) and then finding a recipe that works as opposed to find a recipe you want to eat and procure the ingredients.

Why don’t you tell people what store in Toronto this is??? You’ve been asked several times
nightfly4257
You know you gave the option not to buy. Depending on the store they are on the clarence bin just before they spoil from half price down to $.99

Why are you trying to buy fresh berries out of season? Of course it is expensive.
Go buy frozen berries and just wait till it’s the right season for cheaper berries.
jeffs_jeeps
Ya they aren’t in season. So they have to come from far away.

The government has us right by the arse. Wait until they get rid of cash 💵.

Can’t believe it, feels like just yesterday a loaf of bread costs 5 cents.

I just bought the exact same raspberries here in Hamilton at a fortinos, $2.99…….
Sweet_Refrigerator_3
They’re not even tasty right now. They’d be disappointing even for $1.00.

Sigh – I think this is an outrageous price – then again berries are always very expensive in February. I bought some right before Christmas at this price point and frankly they weren’t even good and tasted like seedy water… I was very disappointed.
Apprehensive_Art6712
It is the middle of February in Canada… extremely out of season. They are also a lot cheaper at other stores. Not saying that grocery prices aren’t ridiculous, they are, but this isn’t a great example of it.
frikandelsate
Just go to a different store, also take into account that off-season raspberries always kinda taste like shit.
ohnowheredmypantsgo
Stop using single item grocery chains and just shop at wholesale food places like Costco.
Mercenary100
Don’t buy them let the outrageous prices in food go to waste because as long as somebody keeps buying them, food companies are still making record profits. Do the math on what’s happening here people
Relative-Sherbet-532
raspberries were 2.99 on special last week at my no frills – this ain’t it.
xrp808
If we just consume what’s in season, like our ancestors did, we won’t have this problem so much. For winter season that would be whatever was in your root cellar, plus milk, eggs, meat and cheese.
Cautious-Country6155
Lets be real, out of season food should be expensive

Definitely, like wtf is a golden Berry?

I think it’s ridiculous that the idea of “cheap berries in Canada in February” was even a thing.
Buy frozen or wait until July
Out of season produce has always had wildly variable prices.
Nice to see people new to grocery shopping trying to join the outrage tho
There are plenty of small fruit markets in Toronto where you can berries cheaply even off season but yes, this is ridiculous.
Just get it from [Walmart for $3.97](https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/raspberries/6000191272137) or [Loblaws for $4.99](https://www.loblaws.ca/raspberries-1-2-pint/p/20128938001_EA).
