Are they asking for more tips than the 20% given or did I overtip and they only expect 2-7%?
This receipt was printed after I paid where the “middle option” was 20%

Tip on the tax? Fuck that.
pushermaniac
I’ve seen this as well and you have to always look closely at your receipt these days.

Common at all restaurants with forced gratuity at least this receipt says additional tip.
PolarBearLaFlare
They add a 20% tip on top of the sales tax and then ask for additional ?? Thank god I avoid that overrated ass place
whoisthismuaddib
I envy this meal is all I know.
True_Believer732
Adding gratuity to the bill is a norm in other places, but I haven’t seen it here.
I am hungry after this post tho
furious_sunflower
Abnormal. I would find another spot. Don’t beat me, but barbecue is not something unique.

Things like this is why I eat at home more and go out to eat less.

How long did you wait in line? Ive lived in austin for 4 years, and have been regularly coming out here from dallas for over 10 years and I have never ever wanted to wait in a line like that for bbq, so many bbq places everywhere.
During 2021 I went to Kerlin a lot but towards the end of the year everyone discovered it and there was always a line.
I usually just go to B. Coopers bbq there like never anyone there and its fucking amazing.

how was the banana bourbon pie? got scarred by a straight booze tasting bourbon pecan pie around the holidays (different restaurant), so really curious if this one is similar

I’m put-off that restaurants that ask for more than 20% tip or a healthcare subsidy. I’m generous to a fault but this irks me.
BrooksLawson_Realtor
The “norm” is to not include a tip on the check and then present you with a minimum of 20%. Unless you have a large party or something. Looks like they included a 20% tip.
elibutton
No need. They make plenty of money there. I mean plenty.
It’s an option in the POS to show ‘additional tip’ options when gratuity is included. It’s also an option to show the tip % based on before or after taxes. This is the restaurants choice to show these options, and show it this way.

Where did the $13.40 come from? They just added it? As someone who has been working in restaurants for over 40 years I have never seen a tip when added to a check based on the total with the tax. If that’s what happened I would never go there ever again and I tip very well but that is just plain shady. But if you added that tip I guess they can suggest more but that too is a bit shady.

That’s fucking dumb. You already tipped.

Additional tip lmao.
freeman913
Yeah just don’t do it. Especially at Franklin. They’ve been overpriced for years
sandfrayed
The already included service fee was over 20%! Screw that.
Why can’t restaurants just pay their staff a reasonable hourly rate. Tipping culture in the US is beyond obnoxious.
