Not quite like this, but Vivo’s has puffy tacos.

Pepe’s is sort of like this. It’s on Lamar, just north of whole foods

They fry their own shell at Cruzteca. Amaya’s are sort of inbetween crispy and puffy.

We have a lot of comedians here today. This is from a hole in the wall in San Diego called Benny’s for those curious.

Taco Ranch has these and they are pretty decent for an affordable option

It is odd, Cali and Texas are so similar in Mexican food and culture, but I cannot find tacos in Austin like they exist everywhere in Cali.

Even shit fast food tacos. Good god I miss Jimboys and Adalbertos.

If head south on 35 and exit when you get to San Antonio.

I forgot about this place but taco palenque scratched that itch for me. Plus their salsa is really good!

Nthing El Perrito. Dude makes solid food. His main thing is “ELP Tacos” (his take on El Paso’s Chico’s Tacos, or tacos ahogados), but you can get crispy tacos with deshebrada (shredded beef), ground beef, shredded chicken, carne asada, or carnitas. He uses shredded cheese instead of that fine stuff tho (it looks like cojita?).

If I didn’t live nearly 45 minutes away, I’d probably be bankrupt. And fat(ter).

You can get these anywhere in San Diego. We literally just call them beef tacos here. I just moved to Ventura county like 3 hours away and they put rice and beans in everything Mexican here. You order a carne asada burrito (SD staple) and they go “ok asada burrito” and it’s literally a rice and bean burrito with a scant amount of some cheap beef with, I shit you not, taco seasonings on it. Like not taco shop seasonings. Supermarket packet style, white grandma style, “taco seasoning”. I hate the people up here for how fucked up their version of Mexican food is. A carne asada burrito should be 90% carne asada. I know, a radical thought.

  17. Tacqueria Jessica on McNeil has crispy beef tacos that look like these
