The food is very good. Spam musubi quite tasty, and the beer is cheap. Thumbs up.

That place is delicious, but it takes a lot of self control to not go nuts on their extensive add-ons menu.
It seems reasonably priced at first, then you’re adding extra chashu, ribs, wontons, bacon, spinach, corn, extra noodles etc. into your soup and wondering how your bill is more than $40.

Shin sen gumi used to be so good for the price like 8+ yrs ago. Went twice within the past couple years and was severely disappointed both times. I also have no reason to go since my favorite ramen spot (Tomizo Ramen) is just a dollar more and the taste and quality is exponentially better.

Looks great but the egg to me is overcooked.

Been going here for ages, even been to the ones in Japan and it’s great every time.

Shin Sen Gumi is really good. I also like Daikokuya (despite the hype I guess?) and Tatsunoya* in Pasadena. Other LA ramen spots have disappointed me, but to be fair I haven’t had too many. There’s good stuff on Sawtelle but I’m rarely that far west.

The best ramen in town!

Not kidding, the katsu curry rice is pretty good.

This was my introduction to Ramen,so will always have a spot on my list. Great food, but found much better spots since.

Decent ramen, but I’m more of a santouka guy myself

Never was a big ramen guy, I love chinese and korean noodles but ramen is just not worth it. Always get a tiny ass portion for lukewarm 20 dollar bowl of noodles with no addons. I have had real good ramen in japan and its just not good here. Best I had was silverlake ramen but it was way overpriced.

Better than dakuyoya?🤔

Favorite ramen place in the whole city.
Their ginger garlic chili adds such a delicious dimension of flavor to all their ramen, can’t get enough.

I wish they served this with soft boiled egg. Drools. Hakata ramen so good!

Still one of my go-to’s for ramen. It was my intro to non-instant ramen after craving for some after watching some anime. I remember when it was $6.99 for a bowl. I normally just add extra chashu and egg. There are some better ramen options now but I still go back because I can customize the noodles, since I like the soft, thin noodles.

Love, love, love. During the pandemic, we’d get take out with my Japanese friend at the Gardena location. The best.
