Soul food in GTA? I see videos of people in the states getting food like this. Anywhere in GTA?

  1. Try Smoque N’ Bones or other smoked bbq places. Their sides are usually like this.

I remember my dad loving this place called Nanakyn Jerk by Wilson Heights and Sheppard.

Jamaica Stamp in Scarborough. Allwyns near Victoria park and Lawrence

  4. Scotty bons is something close to this. Not technically “soul food” but definitely protein, a macaroni-type carb, and veggies in one delicious plate. Been to the one in Scarborough a few times, but looks like they’ve expanded since..

Bennys bbq at Yonge and Egg or Island Spice in Scarborough will get you close

    365 Pitfield in Scarborough.

Would you consider Mario’s to be sould food ?

  10. As someone who grew up in the south this is my white whale. There are some good Carribean places that do soul food but it is not the same thing.

Fullaluv on Jane Street might be what you’re looking for

Don’t bother with any of the southern bbq places in the gta. Beyond overpriced.

Most people posting are talking about Caribbean/Jamaican. That’s not American soul food…

I’d love to know a spot doing this in Toronto. I went to DC in 2006 and I still talk about those lunches.

Uhh closest thing to this I know of is Jamaican food.

There was Harlem and Harlem underground, but they are sadly gone. It’s a gap in the gta.

Honestly not really. Soul food in the US comes from the African American community and there isn’t a large population in Canada which means hardly any authentic soul food restaurants 😔 I’ve tried a bunch like honey and bbq and they’re not the same they never sell collard greens either

Closest is The Heartbreak Chef imo. Most people are posting Caribbean spots and that’s not exactly ‘soul’ food.

I’m thinking, fried chicken, mac and cheese, coleslaw, some greens, potatoes or tater tots, etc…
