I went to the Alibi Room Tuesday and noticed that the suggested tip section is wrong. On my $10 order, the 20% tip was $1.82. I don’t think I can report this anywhere but I want to make people aware they are unintentionally short changing the staff if they are using those numbers. I’ve also seen the opposite. Where what they say is 20% is actually me paying 25-30%.
Bottom line, do some math.
Was there an additional tax line on your $10 burrito?
The tip is calculated pre-tax, the price of the burrito looks to be $10 after tax. That means the price of the burrito pre-tax is $10/1.095 = $9.13. 20% of $9.13 is $1.82
Seems like they’re just including tax in that $10 cost and basing tips on the pre-tax cost (which is “standard” but if anyone’s like me they’re lazy/don’t mind tipping a little more and go off the final total)
