Had a client lunch at Lulu at the Hammer Museum a couple of weeks ago. This is an Alice Waters restaurant so the quality of the food was superb as expected. Small-ish portions.
The bread and butter were good. The bread was cold and hard to cut. The warm almonds and dates were nice. The dates were spectacular.
Chickpea salad was fine. It only came with half an egg. That was $17, I would have expected the whole egg. The wild mushroom pasta was amazing and loaded with nice mushrooms. The other diners at my table had the rockfish and potatoes. Tiny piece of fish, maybe 6 potato halves? Again, the portions were quite small.
Dessert was wonderful. Nothing was overly sweet and the whipped cream was very nice. Great coffee.
A lunch for three with no alcohol cost about $250ish. I don’t know the exact total because I didn’t pay, but it wasn’t cheap. Really beautiful restaurant right in the middle of the museum. I personally wouldn’t go on my own but for a business lunch it was nice.

This is the kind of place that makes you stop at Chick-fil-A on the way home 😂🤣

Edit: nvm

Went there for a work dinner. Overall great experience especially since I wasn’t paying for it. However, I thought our pre-fixe dessert was rather peculiar. It was a small bowl of tangerines, thats it LMAO, waiter said it was very Alice Waters.

I would wait for all the courses, then combine all of it on a salad plate.

It’s good but it’s so overpriced.

I love Lulu and the hammer! The food is phenomenal and the space is lovely. We drive from Atwater to go there every couple of months!

It looks light, tasty, and lovely, but knowing LA prices I wouldn’t eat like this all the time…maybe get a street taco on the way home too 🙆🏻♀️

Would you go again? Seeing your pictures made me remember being sad I spent so much money there, even though the food was pretty good.

That price is a joke for the immense lack of food.
