    Went smelt fishing the other night and had a fry for dinner tonight. Nice once a year tradition.

    Really miss eating these, only had a couple times when I was young. Really brings me back, thanks for sharing.

    Where did you get these? When I was little we would go down the coast of Lake Michigan at night from Racine down to Chicago stopping at Waukegan, Lake Forest, and Highland Park along the way. But I hear the smelts are nearly extinct now at the old locations. Takes me back.

    My step family used to make this at Christmastime in Ohio along with squid sauce. I never tried them tho, I’d probably love them now!

    Looks good! I’ve never been much for smaller fish, whats the bone situation like in a fish this small?
